Picture waterfalls stretching roughly the full length of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. From Brazil, we see that sweep unfold across the river: white curtains, dark cliffs, islands of green and mist rising through it all.
With 80% of the falls located on the Argentine side, it is only from the Brazilian side that one can see almost all of them at once, in full, breathtakingly panoramic views. The Brazilian side offers majestic scenic views of the beauty and entirety of the falls; this is because the Brazilian footbridge lies across the river from the falls, offering a unique perspective and epic scenic views, making the Brazilian side different and absolutely complementary to the experience from the Argentine side.
Access to the Brazilian side of the falls is through a 0.75 mile (1100 meters) footbridge. This unique backdrop of the Brazilian side is made even more engaging and beautiful by the occasional rainbow, formed by the mist that ascends from the powerful water, splashing to water and rock below.
Along the footbridge, we’ll get close enough to the falls to get sprayed by their mist, while listening to the thunderous roar as they crash down into the waters below. We’ll also experience stunning views from a panoramic balcony, located at the very edge of a cliff. From this viewpoint, we’ll find ourselves standing right above a section of the falls, allowing us to see the water fall off the precipice, just below! From this vantage point, we’ll also be gazing out at the “Garganta del Diablo” (The Devil’s Throat) from a distance, as well as taking in the majestic and panoramic views of the beautiful work of natural art that are the entire falls.
Our day of enjoying this incredible work of nature will draw to a close as we embark on a short ride back to our hotel, happy to have a camera full of fresh memories!
